Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on January 16, 1952, Pastor John Bacigalupo served in the Marines Corps from 1969 to 1989 and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant.  “Pastor John-B”, as everyone affectionately calls him, got saved and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1978 at Camp Kuwae Gospel Chapel in Okinawa Japan under Pastor Willie Reaves.  He was the only “Caucasian” in the church at the time and he grew on his faith under Pastor Reaves’ guidance and mentorship.  Up to this day, Pastor John-B considers Pastor Reaves as his spiritual father.  He entered the ministry in 1979 and was licensed as a Minister during the same year.  He was then ordained as a Pastor in 1980 at Camp Kuwae Gospel Chapel.  He was re-ordained by the Door of Faith Church from Honolulu, Hawaii and became the Pastor of Okinawa Door of Faith from 1980 to 1982.  During these times of walking on his faith, he has had but a sixth grade education.  When the military assigned him to Kaneohe Bay Hawaii in 1983, the Lord led him to go back to school and he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University in 1986.  It was also in Hawaii where the Lord led him to Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay under Pastor Ralph Moore where he served the ministry from 1983 to 1986 running the Sunday school program with approximately 18 teachers and 150 children.  At Pastor Ralph’s invitation, Pastor John-B became part of Foursquare church and he’s been at home ever since.  He was ordained by Japan Foursquare Church in June 1993 where he is still currently serving to this day.

Pastor John-B has two favorite sayings in life: One is “Love people and use stuff - Don’t love stuff and use people”, and secondly “Do the best you can with whatever resources you have”.  He personally believes that if one will do these 2 principles in life it will be pleasing in the eyes of the Lord.  Pastor John-B has a passion to help and equip leaders and engage them into ministry.  Twenty four years ago, he has planted the very first “Hope Chapel” in Japan under Foursquare, and Hope Chapel Okinawa thus far has planted the church of Hope Chapel Stafford (Virginia, USA) under Pastor Mike Hancock.  Over the years, bearing the catch phrase of “We promise to love you…as is!” multitudes have passed through the doors of Hope Chapel Okinawa and you yourself can get to know Pastor John-B better by listening to his messages on our website.

Pastor John-B has been married to Toshiko Tanahara Bacigalupo for 40 years and they have been blessed with three grown children and seven grandchildren.  Praise the Lord!!!
